Aim and experimental setup
There is increasing demand for better understanding of spray ignition and combustion
mechanisms since future clean engines will involve various types of direct-injection
combustion and a vast range of injection and intake-charge conditions.
Paying attention to the relation between fuel-air mixing and combustion,
we are carrying out the studies using a constant volume vessel equipped
with an electrically-controlled high-pressure injection system:
1. Study on ignition mechanism in a fuel spray paying attention to fuel-air mixing
2. Fundamental study on ignition and heat release control in direct-injection PCCI
3. Spray ignition model including a stochastic mixing model and a reduced chemical kinetics
