Laser diagnostics of mixing and combustion

Fuel-air mixing is fundamental and essential process in many practical combustion systems.
Understanding of the role of mixing in combustion leads to improvement in energy conversion
efficiency and suppression of environmental impacts. To elucidate the characteristics of
complicated turbulent mixing process in steady and transient flames, we have developed
the laser diagnostic techniques and applied them to simplified combustion fields.
1. Development of time-resolved PIV method and analysis of turbulence field in cold jets and flames
2. Measurement of concentration and flow field in a channel with mixing promoters
